Really want to go to school

Well since finding out I was pregnant last year I put all plans to persue school on the backburner. But in the last little while i've been thinking about it alot and I really would love to get a degree. I've done nothing with myself since I got out of school and i'll be damned if i'm going to just be a SAHM for the rest of my life.

The problem is that the program I want to take is only offered in a school over an hour away. How could I persue it with a family???

I know it's something I want to do because when I read the program outline it gives me butterflies and I can evision myself finding work in this proffession.

I haven't talked with Jay yet... What would any of you do??
I've been talking about this program for years...

is train an option???

Have you looked into how many days of the week you actually need to go??

with uni it can mean 2 or even 3 days off a week!!

what about distant learning??? Does this school offer that facility??? Where they put all lectures on to dvds and stuff!!!

Would you want to move?? Id definetly go for it... especially if it is something you really really want to do!!! xxx

Well it's just over an hour outside the city limits and I can only get there by car. there are no trains or buses that go that way.
Also i beleive it's a full time course and it's a hands on program so unfortunately I cannot do it long distance. I really would have no problem moving there for however many months the program is during the year. But Jay has his two daughters who we have every other week now and there's no way we could drive to and from school everyday...

i haven't looked into the course too much because i'm not feeling very optimistic about it.. I suppose I should do that first and then talk with jay. I wouldn't be able to start it until next year anyways though because I have a little bit of upgrading to do.
But I know I would love to do it... it's kind of a tough situation

Well,an hour away, thats not that much. You could drive there.

How many classes per day would you have? How many hours would you spend there every day? Cause, the only issue you would have with driving is gas.It would take some toll on your budget.

Take some more research, maybe even pay a visit and talk to a faculty member there. They must have some kind of privilages for people who don't live localy?

I'm going to give you a link. This is a website that lists every program offered by distance at every university in Canada. If you choose one from here, you can do the entire thing at home through the internet. I'm doing distance courses now and I'm 8 hours away from my campus. It is by far my favourite way to go to school. I'll be starting another degree from there by the time I'm graduated this one.

All of these are accredited, legitimate programs. Just a link that pulls them all together so you don't have to search the individual websites. Your program in particular may not be offered, but you will be incredibly surprised what you can actually do distance.

Talk to the school's admissions advisor and financial aid advisor. I don't know what options Canada has available but the U.S. has all sorts of grants and scholarships available. You'll be surprised at the number of women with families you find on a college campus.
