Question about tax credits

Hi all,

when it comes to tax credits etc im abit dim, ok up until january this year both me and hubby were working full time therefore earning too much for the weekly tax credits u can get, i rang them when i left work as i now stay at home and since april we get 10 pound a week as it goes on last years earnings (when we were both working), does that mean i wont get anything else until next april once weve had a year of only one wage????

im getting confused as i people are talking about tax credit renewals, should i be doing this???

i am ssooo clueless, please help

btw.. i did do the tax calculator and am entitled to more than 10 pound per week on only hubbys wage

thanks for any replies

You probably will have to struggle for the year until next year, sorry Claire. The tax credit system stinks. We had similar because I went part-time in November 07, so this years tax credits award is based on half year fulltime wage and half parttime. We'll get more next year, but that doesn't help us now.

Although, they do say that if your wages drop a significant amount, to let them know. So it may be worth giving them a call.
