My MIL is quite a lovely lady too. There have been a few trying times, but not many.

I've got a great MIL although we're not very close. We can have conversations with eachother but not a good old laugh if you know what I mean. She doesn't interfere with anything, never tells us how to do things or has never commented on how we've brought our DD up, never says a bad thing to us.

My MIL is pretty nice too, I agree with some of the ladies that said occassionally they will say or do something that's slightly annoying, but never bad enough to really bother me She's a sweetheart, very quiet and reserved, much different than my own mom, who's like a social butterfly lol. Each different as night and day, but great in their own way.

I have said some things about how my MIL drives me nuts. And sometimes she really does, she is controlling and possessive of her son... But she has really made me feel like part of her family. (Once me and DH were married and got pregnant) She knows how much I love her son, and she doesn't really criticize the things I do, she just wants to do things her way, that I dont agree with. Things that they did when DH was a kid, and isn't recommended anymore. But overall she is a nice woman, who wants the best for us. (And I just have hard feelings for the past, but I guess its about time to get over it, shes gonna be in my life forever now)

Good to hear that you ladies have nice MILs. There are so many monster in laws, its good to hear some have a place in their hearts for their DILs.

i have AMAZING in-laws. I owe them so much, they took me in as a daughter from the moment DH and I started dating. They taught me what family is all about. After graduating High School they basically invited me to come live with them, eventually paying my way to move from Japan to United States to be with them and my OH when they left the country. Took me on vacations to Hawaii, California, Las Vegas...I am just another member of the family. They never ask anything of me, it is so hard to 'repay' them for all they have done for me.

I know i am one of the lucky ones they are wonderful!

Since her and my OH's dad split up I havent felt the same round her!!! really dont like her new partner... WEIRDO!!! And its all changed!!! Shes going travelling in a caravan at the end of july.... with her granddaughter due in august.... GREAT!!! She says she will come back but they cant unless they put the dog in a kennel!!! My MIL has heart of gold, BUT she can be soooooooo annoying. I know she means well, but I HATE the fact that she favours her eldest son over dh (4 years younger) and it breaks my heart when he tells me he doesn't feel loved by her.
I also have a step-MIL, who is lovely and doesn't interfere at all
