I'm Currently Feeling: | A bit of quick advice please about where I stand with 'money' things Hi all,
I have been having a nose about on ere and did see the threat bout working tax credits etc but I just need a bit of quick advice from u guys really so I know what Im doing. I have been claiming family tax credits for the last year with my partner. However, this April we seperated. He has now moved out and where as before he used to pay all the bills etc, its now down to me. I only work 16 hours a week cuz I have a 2 year old girl. I have wrote and informed the family tax credit people that I am now single. Will I still be able to claim tax credits? Also I have heard that I can claim income support now too as I am a single working mother who works 16 hours or less a week. Is this true? So am I right in thinking I can apply for both working tax credits AND income support? I hate doing this. I dont wanna bludge of society but at the minute I have no choice. When my daughter is at school I will get a full time job but at the min it aint really practicle. I have sent a form in for council tax discount, its just the other stuff I need to know about.. I need all the help I can get.
Hope you can help.
thanks ladies xxxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would recommend actually phoning the Inland revenue and finding out for sure what you're entitled to by explaining your status. And that way it's most likely to get sorted out asap too. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | You can get Working Tax Credit if you work 16+ hours per week. You can get Income Support if you work less than 16 hr per week. Either way you will still get Child Tax Credit. The jobcentre or Citizens Advice can do a better off calculation for you, to see which is better.
Hope that helps. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Because you only work 16 hrs a week you may be eligible for council tax/ housing benefit depending on your income. Fill in the forms anyway as even if you get a bit of extra help it will come in handy. You will be entitled to working and child tax credits as you are working 16 hours. If you need to you will also be eligible to claim childcare allowance which I think is somewhere in the region of 80-85% if you use a registered childcare provider. Not sure on the income support as I think you either claim either or, unless you work less than 16 hours which I would assume they would mean 15 hours or under but dont quote me on that! Hope this helps. Good luck xx | | | | Status: Offline
