shared residency - uk

just wondered if any one had any experience of this relatively new thing called shared or joint residency. when my OH divorced two years ago him and his ex had equal access to their son, i believe they signed something to the effect. since then, the ex tries to get son to stay at hers more than with us, so that OH has to produce lots of child maintenance money. the last time it kicked off, he saw a solictor who told oH to go to court to get a shared residency something or other, so that she couldn't keep changing her mind about when son can stop with his dad. anyone had expereince of this? it's suppposed to be a fairly new thing...

Well it might not be the same but thats what my mum and dad have got over me + my brother + sister.
It's not complicated or anything but can be hard for the kids, choosin who they would be better of stayin with the most etc..
I would have liked my mum + dad to have sat down an spoke to us more about what was goin on, but thats just me.
