My husband and I had a very small wedding (19 guests). It cost us just under $2000 (1000 GBP), and we actually received about the same amount in monetary gifts and pretty much covered all of our costs.

Depends how big a wedding you want - the whole church/reception/posh cars shebang, or a registery office thing.

If its in 2010 though you can spread your costs over the 2 years. Between Jan and March for a september wedding we already paid out nearly £2000 and that was no where near what the final tally was.

But either way i'm so pleased for you

My auntie and her partners civil partnership cost them about £200 including lunch at Frankie and Bennys for them and their two children afterwards.

Depends what you want. Im looking at setting the budget for ours at about £5k, but one of Matts friends spent £35k on theirs.

Ours was meant to be small but our families chipped in to and it ended up costing a fortune. I dread even adding up the total.

We spent around $5000 US on our wedding, that included dress, photographer, location, food, cake.........everything. But we got married at a place called the wedding chapel and they provided the location and food for a great deal and than they had connections to a DJ that we used (cost extra but was worth it.)

Bought my dress on ebay $78.

Got local flowers for me (bridal bouquet, matron of honor bouquet, and two boutiniers) $150.

DH and I love to cook so he grilled steaks and we got fixings for salad and I made focaccia bread. We had twice baked potatoes. Fed just under 40 guests for around $200-$300.

My brother works at a microbrewery and got a keg for us for our wedding.

Had the festivities at mom and dads B&B... we were kinda cramped but it was mostly family and friends so noone cared.

Matron of honor bought a dress she liked and could wear again in my color.

DH and Best man wore suits they already had.

Did my own makeup and hair.

Dad made my wedding cakes

We really didn't go on a honeymoon.

Paid $50 for license, and had family friend and minister officiate.

Wedding pics were taken in a studio prior to the wedding ($400). Attendees (family and friends) had digital cameras they took pics and sent disks of images to us for keepsakes.

Rings were the most expense. DH was $500 and mine was $2000.

So under $5000... probably close to $4000.

It was wonderful, worth every penny! Small weddings are the BEST imho .
