I'm Currently Feeling: | Really want a puppy Well i've been bugging DH for a puppy for so long now and i'm finally feeling ready to get one. I've wanted a beagle for years now and I have been looking over the last couple of days.
Problem is Jay said no dogs until we move into or buy a bigger house. He says we have too many pets right now (they are all caged)....Also he thinks it's nuts with a new baby. Am I nuts?? I really feel like I can handle it I don't know how much longer I can wait. It will be years before we buy a home. He won't have to do anything I will feed him, walk him, train him. At least i'd get out of the house more LOL
I'm so worried that i'm going to find one and I won't be able to walk away and that he will be extremely mad at me... Am I going too far? Am I crazy to want a puppy too? I really really want one | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | To be honest, my OH wanted a puppy when I was pregnant with my first. I told him he'd have to wait. Well, two kids later and they've grown up a bit, and we finally have our dog. And it was the best time.
However, I can't tell you whether or not to get a dog. They are work, as I am sure you know, so you will be the judge of whether you have time to attend to a new dog as well as your baby.
Good luck! | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | Ok, wait a sec. I saw your list of animals and I thought I was bad. I would think the others would keep you pretty busy. LOL | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | LOL well they are all pretty low maintenance animals. Only high maintenance thing in this house is Angel And she's not even that bad. I'd love for my children to grow up with a puppy. Animals have always the most important thing in my life (aside from family) and I really miss having a dog.
I think Jay would be mad at first but I have a feeling he'd love the dog too... I dunno I guess if it's meant to be it will happen. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | As I said hon, only you know if you have the time to deal with a dog too. I also see that your OH loves you a whole bunch. I have read your threads!
Perhaps just keep talking to him before going out and getting one. | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | A friend of my OH's came up for a week visit with his 3 month old puppy.
Cute as hell....whined all the time..and had to be let out every couple of hours.
I want another dog as well........but do not think I have the time for the training. And I know how bad a dog can be without proper training.....
give it alot of thought as a spontanious purchase could end up at a shelter or tied to a tree outdoors. | | | | Status: Online

I don't thinkTurbomom is that kind of person TBH
Hun, I would have a good think about it. I love the fact that Oscar is going to grow up with a dog in the house, he will learn so much from him and I have the feeling they will be inseperable.
I would talk to DH about it and try to talk him around. If he says no for now then maybe later. Whne Angel is 2 or 3 she can help with training little pup....
I'm sure whatever you chose to do you will be a good dog mummy. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | we also desperately want a puppy. funnily enough a beagle or basset hound, we started looking at dogs when i was earlier on in the pregnancy but as we didnt find anything we wanted i decided now is not the time. i was also worried about being able to leave the baby on the floor if there is a dog around. ive grown up with dogs and DH too and i totally understand the want for one. i too want my kids to grow up with a dog and we also have limited space. i think im gonna wait til the baby is about a year or so before we get a dog, that way its a little easier. puppies are hard work, its like having two babies, they need a lot of training and a mommy. i think that it might be a bit overwhelming for you but u know yourself best. good luck! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well i have a little 4 month old yorkshire terrier pup. And as much as i love him, he is really hard work and i dont even have my baby yet. But i must admit he keeps me company. On nights when i cant be bothered to do anything and OH out, me and him cuddle up on sofa etc. I say if you feel you can handle a puppy and a new Baby then go for it. But research your breed first lol We never and a Yorkshire terrier is very high matience. But none the less we still love him. xxx | | | | Status: Offline

| We have three rabbits and an 8 year old border collie. The rabbits are fine, but the dog is very high maintenance. She whines - A LOT - and is very spoiled for some odd reason. Even though she is older and calmer than when she was younger, she is still a lot of hard work. I can see how it is going to be difficult when our baby is born. But, each person decides what he/she can handle and I agree with Ema. Research the breed first. | | | | Status: Offline
