A question for you. Is the baby his? If so, if he found out wouldn't he be entitled to stay in the country?

What I would do is not talk to him at all and go through the other steps in order to save yourself hassle.

He probably won't be eligible to stay in the country (again I don't know the immigration laws there) but from my understanding of what we went through, my PR application was dependent on my being married, if we had divorced or separated at any time I would have had to leave the country.

that's why I don't want him to know about the baby as I think he'd propably go ballistic! I was six month pregnant already when the divorce went through, but didn't divorce him 'cos of the baby and OH!
