I used to have a barclays account, needless to say, they were s**t. I switched to HSBC and i havent had a single problem in all the 3 years i've had the account *touch wood*

This is totally crap of them and i hope you get this sorted soon and you get all of your charges back!

Because you dont have a birth cert, drivers licence or passport does this effectively mean you dont exist?

Just an update.

I went into the branch and logged a complaint about this, and three people agreed with me that I was in the right. I was told Id get a phone call in 5 working days.

8 working days pass and guess what - no phone call, no letter, nothing!

So Ive just got off the phone with them now.

APPARENTLY the money was credited into my account in 2006. I have the letter they sent me in front of me and it says 2007. The person I spoke to refused to believe me 'well miss smith, I have the letter in front of me that was sent out to you and it definately says 2006'. I have the letter in front of me here and it DEFINATELY says 2007. He wouldn't believe me.

So anyway. They're sending out copies of my statements from 2006 and 2007, copies of the letters theyd sent out but Id never received.

But (this is the good bit!!!) tehy had sent out 2 letters to an address in Leeds that Ive never lived at before. Its not even anywhere near to my house, and the address or the postcode are even close or sound similar. Its just completely wrong. On these letters were my account number, sort code, name and details of my overdraft.

Lovely stuff.

Rich is having a problem with Barclays too. The said he was overdrawn when he wasn't, then they let him withdraw money, then they charged him even though he wasn't overdrawn.. It's all a big confusing mess. He's changing banks.

Well I would but I cant afford a passport and I have no other ID. Theyve also said if I close my account I have to pay my loan and overdraft back and I cant afford to do that,

Theyre absolutely bloody useless. Tell him to get out while he can.

They better had do, I swear, They do NOT want me on the phone again.

My Dad sent me this advice..

Quote:
OK, tell them that, unless they refund the £130 (or whatever it was) that they've wrongly removed from your account, refund the charges for sending you the statements, and refund any interest you've paid on the overdraft that they've caused by (say) 30th May (plus add something for your troubles - say £100, phone calls, letters, stress, etc.), then you're going to the Financial Ombudsman Service with a complaint about the way you've been treated.

Point out to them that it will cost them more to do this than it would just to settle the claim, so they might as well just settle.

For info: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

You need to do this in writing, so that you both have a record of exactly what you've said. It's the only they'll take you seriously. If you need help drafting a letter, let me know. Use the above website/helpline if you need help in finding the person to send the letter to, or any other advice on the matter.
which I think Im going to do. Its just taking far to long. My earnings are going to cut in half when I go on mat leave as it is, the last thing I need is for them to be taking money out of my account when they feel like it.

Im so stressed out. I know its not an awful lot but I just want to cry. We're struggling enough as it is.
