I'm Currently Feeling: | Grr.. (income support) How long should I be waiting after I've signed the papers? I'm glad I have my mum and Rich to help me out or I'd seriously be f*cked with how long they leave people waiting. I think it's terrible. Not for me, because I'm not going to die without it, but for people with nothing that need it desperately, they take the piss! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've got a gripe about this at the minute, but it's not their fault really.
Matt is going to get a promotion in the next couple of months, which won't really bump up his salary by a lot, but enough to push us over the threshold for income support by about £40.
Although as he is getting his payrise, he'll also be pushed over the threshold for paying his student loan.
So we'll be worse off, and also not entitled to anything. The only way to get around it to be better off would be for Matt to turn down his promotion, but then he'll be stuck in his job for god knows how long not progressing.
The benefits system is crap. I used to live with 5 boys who couldn't be arsed to get a job and they could claim everything under the sun. Yet the people who need it can't get anything. Grrrrr.
Hope you get it sorted love, give them a ring and use your angry pregnant lady hormones.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hope you get it sorted, they kept us hanging on a joint claim for 6 months surviving on a single persons income. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | People can get a crisis loan in the interim period until their claim is sorted.
I used to work for the DSS in Income Support New Claims.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Just keeping ringing them everyday, they should soon sort it out. Ask for a payment too coz if its been over a week and you have provided everything you should get one
And Linzi - are you talking about Income Support or Tax Credits? - coz you would only be entitled to income support if your partner was working less than 24 hours per week and earning less than about £95? (as well as the usual conditions - sick, lone parent or carer) | | | | Status: Offline
