I used to live in Edinburgh up until 2 years ago, and the prices there now rival London-another capital city. A 1 bedroomed flat in the shittiest area is well over 100k, plus we have the offers over system up here!

We moved out of the city to our current area for cheaper propery, its a healthy trek to work but the only way we can afford to live.

Good luck in whatever you decide xxx

London is such an expensive place to live it is ridiculous. Like i said before me and OH pay £1000 a month rent for a 2 bedroom apartment, it is brand new but really isn't all that big. Makes me mad xx

I live in chester its not as expensive as london but seems that way. at the moment we rent a 2 bed mid terrace house with one bathroom, living room and small courtyard no grass its £625 a month.
Moving into our new 'Family Home' in july 3 bed(one on-suite),living room, dining room, big bathroom, big kitchen big garden for baby and dogs. But it will cost us £950 a month but you pay for what you get. Suppose i cant complain as can afford it and we have bought it instead of the one we are renting at the moment so we can finally do what we want with it :-)

Chesters as bad as London!

Thats where I am from hence we live just outside of and moving to a home where its one straight train through to see family etc.

Could never afford or justify paying that in rent or buying unless it was a mansion! personally of course

True... I live in great boughton (next to sainsburys) which as you well know is one of the more expensive areas but its where i know everyone and everything and my parents live round the corner from our new house. luckily we both have quite well paid jobs and we have been renting for 2 years now and the amount we spent on that, we might as well have gone a bit higher and got a proper family home. But we did look into the likes of christleton etc just outside but nothing we really liked to commit to buy :-) Where abouts you live outside??

OMG
It makes me so thankful to be on the ladder. I jumped on the rudder 6 years ago and have plenty equity, OH has equity too. I think if we were starting now we would never do it. I don't know how anyone can afford to save for a deposit when paying that in rent.
I rent out my 2 bed house in cardiff for 550 pcm and it just covers the mortgage and insurances.
£800 is a lot of money, let alone a grand
