When we were looking for a house i think they would only give us something like 120k at the time, which meant we couldn't afford any of the houses we were looking at, so we had to move to a different area which isn't in the best of locations lol, but we bought a house that was really run down and have done it up over the last 2 years which has doubled its value, so wear hoping we can move out of here in the next year or so and buy the houses we were originally looking at. We only took out a mortgage for 65k and we pay back 430 a month, so glad i didn't get a bigger mortgage!!

The prices are ridiculous... Me & my OH pay 350 a month for a 2 bedroom terraced house in a quiet street. Double glazed central heating, decent back garden etc etc.

Good luck though hun xx

Yeah we had a look around your way because it's the same distance from his work as it is here. NOTHING. It's all so expensive anywhere near London!

I'm in Bishops Stortford Herts.
We bought our house last Feb, and we got a mortgage for 150K we put done a large deposit so we are in a fixed 2year deal until Feb 09 paying back 800.
We was renting before and that was costing us 550. a month for only one bedroom. Our house has two bedrooms and good size's. Current market is a complete joke, we moved away from where i was bought up by a good 20miles as if we wanted to live around there we would of had to of found another 30K.

we rent a lovely 3 bed house for 575. A mortgage for a house worth 135k would mean repayments of 750 a month! I would rather rent until a rich relative snuffs it. haha joking (feels mean)

Might not have an awful lot of choice. Fortunately you're in the position where you can go back/stay with your parents, and neither of us are.

We are desperately trying to hold on to our house, but we may struggle and HAVE to go into one of those places because we would be homeless otherwise.

It's not ideal, but I don't think it's half as bad as you would expect.

If you're right next to any city centre it's really expensive too, because of my medical stuff, it's easier and better for us to live in the city, but costs a bloody fortune. When I bought my house when I was 19, I was paying £200pcm mortgage. Was a bargain! But, circumstances changed and I couldn't stay there. proper sucked.
