I'm Currently Feeling: | Look in the paper look for ads that say they take DHS or income support.. Give them a ring and talk to them about your circumstances.. theres quite a few landlords that only take people on income support on as its guarenteed rent.. So once your claiming for yourself thats the way to go about it.. thats what i ended up doing because council took flimming the piss wanted me to stay in the hostel for a year. xxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | no catch hun.. The social have to pay for your rent once your claiming for yourself.. Its so much easier than waiting on the council...And if you wanted to get on the council later on well you have your house so your not in no rush just apply on the council waiting list and wait for anything to come up.. Where i am you bid on houses thats in your band priority if that makes sence, so thats all im doing. |

Its a hard situation though and i can understand you wanting to do the best for everything. There's nothing worse than staying somewhere you know you're not wanted. I would definately look at private ads in the local papers for landlords who accept DSS. Atleast then you can have a say in where you want to live.
The council will give you a place to live. I was in a similar situation when i was 16, i was homeless with no money. They had me have several interviews and offered to house me in a scruffy b&b where a lot of druggies lived. And they sent me to a homeless help place for a £5 food hamper. It's completely degrading and they did not give me the help or support i needed, it was one of the lowest times of my life.
My advice is to not go down the route of council housing unless you have to, its a very depressing and humiliating process and there are lots of technicalities involved. You mum will have to officially throw you out of your house. Wheras, if you find a DSS flat or house and apply for housing benefit to pay for it then at least you're in control of where you live.
I hope you manage to sort something soon hun, try not to get too stressed out. I hope your mum gives you the support you and your baby need |
