You'll be fine! - Its a bit of a culture shock at first, but the lauguage barrier tends not to be too much of a problem because the Army have pretty much everything you need set up (Like Hairdressers etc)...and in the cities most German people speak fantastic English...But you will pick it up!

I'm in Detmold, Hubby is based at Padderborn - I quite like it out here! - I think the cost of living is cheaper (Fuel, alcohol and cigarettes etc are all a lot cheaper) and the general pace of life a little calmer.
- You will miss certain home comforts and the re-cyling system takes some getting used to but on the whole there are a lot of benefits. For example its private health care (Which gets paid by the Army) so the hospitals are much nicer than in the UK - You get overseas allowance so you earn more money and you get Kinder Geld for your Little ones, which is like our Child Benefit, but uou are still entitled to all UK benefits such as Child Benefit, Tax Credits etc because your Hubby is still working for a UK company therefore paying NI insurance and tax. You don't pay water bills, council tax or for a TV licience either!
...If you want to know anything, please feel free to e-mail me. I will PM you my e-mail addy.

PS - A lot of the Army wives are cliquey...they are nosey and like to know who has got what etc...there is a lot out here who come from nothing and have married a squaddie for the lifestyle - But then there are a lot of nice women too! (Like me, of course ha ha!) - If your anything like me, you'll soon suss out who to stay away from and make some nice friends.
