Its a joke isn't it
When my hubby got his new car the first quote we had was over £3000!!!

We ended having it so he is a named driver on my insurace policy, so got it down to £1300 with ELEPHANT but its still expensive.
-With car tax, car repairs and ever rising fuel prices its a wonder any of us can afford to drive!

When I had my car, I put my dad down as the policy holder and I was a named driver on the insurance. This knocked the price down by about £400 to £800 for 10 months with Elephant.

It is very expensive though.

My insurance for my old car went down to £700 a year... When I first started out it was £1200.

I switched cars in September last year and it has shot right back up again even with 1 year no claims and full UK pass plus I pay £110 a month. Shocking!!

I have just recently don a quote and finally found £550 for the year. Just proves how much some companys take you for all they can get. With my punto the £700 a year wasnt so bad... It was £68 per month... but for it to shoot up to £110 a month is was gob smacked but I needed a bigger car... Mind I didnt need a big engine... I just wanted it. Greedy!

Rich is going to put me on his insurance I think. It'll go up to £2000 (for both of us) but it should go down after I've been driving a while.

Have you passed your test? If youve still got your provisional it should drop again after you've passed I think.

I think for the first year of you driving they do charge you a ridiculous amount, i think i paid just over a grand for a 1.1 renault clio which was about 6 years old at the time. But the year after (with no claims) it went down to about 700 then 500, now its only 400 for both me and my OH and i have a lot bigger/newer car.

Have you done your pass plus (motorway certificate)? I found that brings the insurance down quite a lot.
