Thinking of going back to work ....I Know!!!

Anyway, our childcare plan has gone t*ts up and we're having to think of something else.

Was wondering if its possible to put Noah in to a nursery or creche for 2 hours per day? Do they let you do that and what sort of price would we be looking at? I've had a look on a few web sites but it doesn't say anywhere that you can do hourly, however they do do extra hours, so before 8 and after 5 but thats not what we're looking for!

Anyone have any idea?

The nursery that I have pre booked a place for Olivia have hourly rates of £3, so I presume that you would be able to do that?

Perhaps they all varey, give a few a call that you're intersted in they will soon tell you.

I know many do full day, morning or afternoons. The nursery that Olivia is going into do what they call starter sessions, so in August before I go back to work in September Olivia will go in for a like 2 hours one after noon a week just get familiarise with the new surroundings

I'm obviously not from your area but... there are some community centers here that care for children 5 and under for free to give their parents a bit of free time. They do this for half days. Maybe you can see if anything similar is available where you're from.

Childcare is so very expensive. I have to pay $100 canadian every week to "reserve" Simon's place for when I go back to work in august. Because he's only 7 months, I sent him for 3-4 hours on three occasions. I can't make myself send him more than 3-4 hours per week while I'm home for him!!! I'm so haapy with him! How frustrating to dish out $100 for nothing... But hey, childcare here is so rare that we have no choice.

I can't speak for all nurseries, but most private nurseries wouldn't let you do that-some even want kids in for a minimum of 2 full days per week. Its to make their money and if they let kids in for a couple of hours a day that could be a place for a full time all day child. it's madness.

Rebecca's nursery is a minimum of 2 full days but I chanced it and said I am on Maternity Leave just now and cant afford 2 full days on SMP so could you take her for 2 1/2 days until June then she will do the 2 full days-and they ageed! So maybe just blag it ha ha

The nursery we're sending Junior to does a morning, afternoon or all day session. Maybe you could do that? I think it varies between places. Ours is £3.30 an hour.
