If I'd have known it would be that easy I would've done it ages ago! Not as worried about money now.

Because me and Rich aren't currently living together and he isn't actively supporting me, I get money every week to look after bump. It starts from 29 weeks so hopefully they'll back date it.

hope they backdate it for you, but hate to put a dampner on things - don't hold your breath, it only happens very rarely. Also, just to prewarn you, once your little one is born you will be called in to give information to the child support agency. Its part of an income support claim. Hope that helps you in the long-term.

Thanks! I was in hospital when I was supposed to claim, so I'm hoping they'll take that into consideration.

They should do, good luck. Maybe even get a letter from the hospital. If they refuse the backdating ask them to reconsider, it may take a while, but they still have to pay you in the meantime.

Glad your claim was easy. I had a terrible time getting mine, heavily pregnant, they lost my claim papers twice and blamed me, even though they were lost in the Job Centre by THEM (lol). Then they told me that they wouldn't be paying me at all a few weeks before christmas was due (I had originally applied for IC in October but they said I hadn't). I was on the phone to them for over an hour, then hung up on before speaking to anyone. Then I got a phone call from this snooty old cow telling me that I wouldn't be getting a thing, so I said "well.. i'll be going to the Job Centre and I will be getting the money" - she rang 5 minutes later and said "we'll give you the benefit of the doubt" LOL.. Terrible service, be firm with them!

Hope all is well with it.

And there was me thinking after that phonecall I'd pop down to the Job Center on the 8th and everything would be fine and dandy!

lol good luck! I thought the first phone call was all too easy as well.

If they ask if you want your papers to be put in the internal mailing system, make sure you say "NOOOO!!".
