I'm Currently Feeling: | Need some advice (First time buyers) I need some advice please
Me and my husband have found a new development site that are building houses and flats we are thinking of buying a two bed apartment with them
i need advice for this
the apartment is shared ownership (?) for £22,500 we have been offered upto £66,000 so we think this is perfect to get us on the propety ladder but i am a lil panicky about household bills (i.e. electiric, water, councile tax) as we dont know how much these cost.
my husband works and earns quite a bit i am currently looking for part time work and might have got 1.
any advice would be appriciated x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Eeeek im not so sure on all this shared ownership stuff hunni.
I know they are offering 40% on some of the flats where i live based on a mortgage of about 80K. Which means you pay £685 a month and about £185 a month, obviously you still have to pay a proportion of the rent.
Id say on average my brand new 2 bedroom flat, costs me around £1000 a month thats with £650 a month rent and all my bills. So you'd really need to sit down and work it all out beforehand.
Where abouts are they? Come buy one near me and you can pass me cupcakes over the balcony lol |

I'm Currently Feeling: | The shared ownership is good because you can get a mortgage on a property you wouldn't otherwise be able to afford but I think you have to still pay the rent on the part which you don't own. It's not normally very much though.
We live in a brand new 2 bedroom flat with a livingroom, tiny kitchen, bathroom and en suit. We're in band A for our council tax, which is the lowest but it still costs loads and varies depending on where you live. I can't remember exactly how much ours is but it's over £100 per month. I think closer to £150. Our water is £140 every 6 months which isn't bad.
The other thing is although it's lovely to have a brand new property, we had so many problems when we first moved in. No postcode for ages which causes problems when changing your address with certain companies and getting stuff delivered. We had to pay to get a BT landline installed and then were stuck with a 12 month contract with them which cost a fortune. Then just problems with little things which hadn't been tested but that could just be our bad luck. Ours were build by persimmons. |

good luck hunni xx | AH - You have Sky!! So jealous!!!! I miss it so much. It was like my best friend, letting me watch Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents all day! We aren't allowed it in our stupid flat because apparently the dish will look bad on the building. |
