Housing again......

Ok I know I posted a the other day about the council and not getting help but I've had enough. There doesn't seem to be anybody out there interested in helping me, CAB can't help both my local councils don't want to know and I'm getting increasingly worried.

I've decided to write a letter to my local MP but I don't think it'll help much. I'm just so angry that druggies, alcoholics and immigrants can easily get housed but when someone who really needs it can't get the help.

Ex suggested I send it to the paper as well but I don't think they'll be interested as theres so many people in my situation they probably get loads of letters.

sorry for my rant I'm just frustrated.

xx

I dont know where you live but try your local housing associations. I couldn't get jack all with the council. I managed to find a housing association that was willing to house me, and must i say, my house is wonderful.

Hope you get some help soon hun, the stress wont be doing you any good.

Well around here all the council use the housing associations, the housing associations take applicants via the local council.....if that makes sense. Well that's what I've read anyway. But thank you for ur suggestion I'll take another look.

Afraid I have no advice only sympathy. Seems rather random at times. My mums friends daughter! has just come back from the USA. She is separated from her american hubby and they have a 4 year old together. She has been out of the uk for at least 6 years. Within a month she has been allocated a house and given a 1800 pound grant towards furnishings. She said it was too expensive to ship her bits over so would see what she could claim. Her mum is not impressed.

Haven't seen your previous post but what is your current living situation?

Let's say you are living with parents. The council see's that you have a roof over your head and that basic amenities are available. You now slip right down the list for housing.

However, your parents decide they don't want you living at home with baby...
They write to the council that as of [date] you are evicted due to [lack of space/feuding/whatever] the council are obliged to find you accomodation by the time baby is born.

This is how come druggies/immigrants/etc get housed so quickly - they don't have a roof over their head and thus are instantly bumped up the list.
You have to in effect become homeless to get housed.

Kellz,

Thank you for your reply, at the moment I'm privately renting but my tenancy runs out 31st March and I can't afford to rent privately anymore so I am having to move back into my parents house.

But the council see me moving out of my rented place as purposely making myself homeless. But I just can't afford it anymore expecially with baby coming and the lack of money once on maternity!!

Somebody did say I should just turn up with my bags but I don't know how effective that would be.....I'm just getting so frustrated now along with work I'm getting very stressed and down about everything.
