Damn Canada...

OH isn't a Canadian citizen but has been living and working here for the last 2 years. He's working in motorsports and have had some issues with his work in the last couple of weeks (to make a short story, the championship that was supporting the series his team was doing, just got associated with another series... so no one knows what will happen with that team -
Champcar Atlantic team) OH can't work somewhere else because his work visa is only for that specific employer/job.

Knowing we've got a baby on the way and we can't afford not having him working, we got married 2 weeks ago so we can start the long process of sponsorship in order for him to get a permanent resident status so he can work for another company. It's soo complicated !!!!! Plus, in order to being able to sponsor him I have to promise I will provide for him for 3 years in case he doesn't have a job... But I'm not working at the moment and wasn't planning on going back to work for another year so it makes it even more complicated...

I'm so frustrated right now... This process is more complicated then we thought it would be, it also involves lots of waiting and lots of fees.
I just don't know what to do at this point... Even if everything works out and he gets is permanent resident status, we still have to wait for almost a year for the whole process + forms etc to be done. What if he has no job anymore?? I don't wanna move to England (he's from there)...

I just feel like crying... Just the thought of this whole thing really kills me!

Sorry for the rant, needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for reading xx

I totally understand. Getting my English DH to the US was pain in the ass. It took 9 months for his visa to come through. This was even with an immigration lawyer helping us. It is just horrible. Even though my DH works for a US company and makes a lot of money, I had to get my mother to sponsor him because I had not been working. I know how frustrating it is. Just hang in that and try to let it get to you! There were many times I wanted to cry and pull my hair out! Good luck!!

I am orginally from the US, my DH is from Canada and sponsored me for PR. It is a very long and complicated process. If you like I can PM you a link to a forum that helped me out a great deal when we were going through the process. I'd also be happy to answer any questions you have, but our situation was a bit different from yours since I wasn't working in Canada.

hun, hope you get something sorted.

We want to emmigrate, not onlydo we have to through all the residency stuff, I also have to requalify to do the same job
Really sucks, but will be worth it in the end, just nights of studying long forgotten theory/ stuff never used in practice.

Don't blame u no wanting to come to UK, lot of Brits want out. We pretty laid back on immigration, but I won't start ranting.

Aww hon, sorry to hear you're going through such a rough time I hope things start settling for you and are able to get through all the legalities. I didn't know it was so hard to get permanent residence status here .

England is great! But I would be so depressed to move there... Being away from my family and friends! I can't spend a day without speaking to my mother on the phone for 2 hours!
