I'm Currently Feeling: | How do single parents afford to live? Heeeelp! So i'll be movin back in with my parents for a few months..but then what? I cant stay at mums for long cus they dont have the room.I certainly wont be able to afford to rent privately, so i guess i'll have to apply to the council..but even then i dont think it will be cheap enough! How do u single parents live off MA? And then after that stops cus ill only be able to work part time! Theres rent, council tax, bills, food, Olivers nappies, feed, clothes etc...Im gettin really stressed out and honestly cant see how we're gonna get by alone. Obviously i'm gettin child benifit and Ewan will be givin us £80 a month child maintenence...i really dunno how this will work! xx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | When you're living alsone you should be able to claim housing and council tax benefit, income support and possibly tax credits too. Money will be tight but you manage this way. They make sure everything you need is covered.
Maybe try citezens advice or phoning the job centre and they'll tell you what you can get. Also the job centre website: http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/...its/index.html
It doesn't cover everything you'd be entitled to so it's best to still speak to someone. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Private or council you are entitled to housing help hun! Depending on income & source of income depends how much. Do you plan to return to work? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My friend who is a "single parent" (she is still seeing her OH it fookin annoys me!) is laughing all the way to the bank with tax credits.
She works full time-exact same job as me-takes home £1200 a month wage, gets £675 help from Tax Creds for nursery fee's (she only pays £125 towards them) then gets a whoppin £650 for her and daughter to live off from tax creds-so inevitably she is earning more than me and OH!
Basically if you work 16 hours hun, the tax creds do help immensley, and your rent/ctax will be subsidised. You can phone CAB and they will help you or even your local Job Centre will be ale to help you with what your entitled to.
good luck
