My son has his Dad's surname which is Twist. And I am not married to my current partner so this baby will take my OH surname which is Burman.

My son wants to include my OH's name is his name. So he will be Zachary Twist-Burman.

Complicated huh?

Our baby is taking Matts surname. I hate his surname, but as you said, the baby will always be his, and if I marry someone else (which I dont think I will, unles he does something really stupid) then it would be mean to give junior my new surname. If that makes sense.

It just makes sense to name our baby his surname

Even if it is Humphrey!

With DD1, I knew her bio dad would not be involved so I gave her my last name. I figured if he wanted to be part of her life, he could go to the work to have it changed, and if I remarried and she wanted to be adopted, we could change it at that point.

Since my remarriage, she has not wanted to be adopted by DH, nor take on his name (she thinks it'll sound dumb with her name). We give her that choice, and her name is hers either way.

If dad's involved though, I think if he wants his child to have his name he should have that right. JMO
