I'm starting to think it's a bad idea and me trying to keep things together is a bad idea too. He's managed to keep to having a couple beers a night over the last couple of days, which for him is really good! He's supposd to be sorting his head out but in the mean time seems to be pushing me away.

Looks like it's probably over and I really am going to be a single mum. I didn't think it would actually happen, I thought we'd sort things out and we'd be a family but there we go. This is going to be fun.......not

You dont need to be a single mom... just continue dating for a while. Try living together and raising the baby together before jumping into anything too soon. Like you said, maybe being engaged for awhile. Atleast long enough to know that you are happy with each other (and not JUST happy with the baby.. happy with EACH OTHER ). If you can put up with him drinking a few beers, then I dont see a huge problem in it. As long as he isn't forceful or hateful while he is drinking and isn't completely wasted all the time. Maybe try getting him to cut back to only a few every other night or something, and then go on from there with trying to get him to quit.
Anyways, good luck!

He just seems to be pushing me away, he doesn't seem to really want us as a couple anymore. He's always said he'll be there 100% for me and the baby which is great I just don't think we're going to be staying together. So effectively I will be a single mum. I've worked really hard since finding out I was pregnant to keep us together but I've run out of energy to do it now.

I think we're probably better off as friends and parents rather than a couple. It's silly I've known this was coming for a little while and I want still want to cry. Just I thought the lack of drink was going to help, he just seems to be pushing me away more.
