If you didn't sign anything than I don't think he can make you pay that extra months rent. Sounds like he's just trying to get some extra cash out of you.

That's exactly it. He waited until now to start looking for a tenant and realizes he'll be out money because he's late. When Brad called him and told him it wasn't fair, he just kept saying "I'll take the loss then" trying to make him feel bad for not paying that month's rent. He's lucky enough that we offered 100.00 for the 5 days extra and we won't even be living her during that time.

He seemed like such a nice man until all of this happened. I really don't want to offend him because I hate to burn bridges, but I won't stay another month because of his incompetence.

Thanks for all the advice ladies, it makes me feel better knowing that I'm not over reacting.

he cant do that to u u have given he a verable agreement that u were moving out i would seek legal advice u have given him notice wheather verable or written hes out of order

tell him to get frigged. if your not wanting to rent from, him again an theres no proof of this 30 day agreement go when you want to. any grief ring the police.
