Grandma in hospital

Ewans Great Grandma / my grandma was rushed in to hopsital on Wednesday am, found out yesterday that she has had a heart attack and also has fluid on her lungs as well as a leaky heart valve.
Am trying to keep my self together for the sake of Ewan, my mum, dad and grandad.
She is 88 so i know this is pretty major, i went to see her yesterday and she was talking and laughing so is brighter.
But i am so scared i have never lost a close family member yet, and i really dont know how i will cope, i know hubby will support me as much as he can.

Will find out tonight if we can take ewan to see her as she would love that but dont want to wear her out. Thats if he will be allowed as their visiting times are very strick.

Going to see her again this afternoon.

Gran is doing really well, I have been ferrying my granda back and forth to the hospital so he can see her. On The Friday afternoon when we went i was very worried as she did not seem comfortable and her breathing was awful, and i honestly was expecting the worst.
But on the Friday night my dad said that she had perked up and that they had moved she in to her own room.
Saturday me, my OH and Ewan went in to see her and she was soo chuffed to see Ewan. we only stayed for half an hour but Ewan was soo well behaved, only getting a bit fidgety towards the end. Since then she has been making steady improvement and they hope that she will be able to come out at the weekend. Thank god, will go in again today and see her. As i also have to take my mum in this morning for a bone scan!

Hope everything is still OK. We often think of older people as being really weak, but sometimes they can be stronger than we think.

When my Grandad passed away 9 years ago, we thought Grandma would follow shortly after....but that was not the case. She refused to move out of her house and still lives there alone (with carers going in in the morning and evening to help her out). A couple of years back she had a stroke and we thought her time had come - I flew back home straight away, as it didnŽt look good. But she came through and made a full recovery.....sheŽll be 95 in August!

I hope your grandma makes a full recovery too and is back home soon.

Thanks every one, Well she came home yesterday evening.
I quite unnerved about the way they sent her home, no advice or homecare advice, just gave her new prescriptions which they have to get today. Nothing about any check ups, The other day they were on about sending her to the general ward/ rehab ward to make sure that she can cope with doing general thingsbut suddenely they send her home. None of us were expecting her to be home untill mid next week. She really didnt seem well enough to be coming home. Glad she is but just worrying, the house they are in is quite big and the stairs are very steep.
Will go and see her today as Ewan has been asking to see her. (bless him) he said 'Grandma is hopial having a rest, grandama poorly'
