Going back to work?

Just wondered if and when u ladies plan on going back to work? How are you going to work it? I really need to go back eventually cus we wont get by once my MA is over which ends in June. My OH doesnt earn alot and we dont get any benifits. Only thing is i dont want to put Oliver in childcare cus we cant afford it and it defeats the object of going back to work really if wages are spent on childcare! Plus i dont really like nurseries and would sooner look after Oliver myself. Our mums cant look after him cus they live in leicester n we live in derby.

My OH works for the NHS a a healthcare assistant so obviousilly works alsorts of shifts all over the place, so how do i find a part time job that works around him??

Even if i managed it it means i would never see my OH cus it would mean he comes in from work, i go out! I dont know how i'd manage working, looking after Oliver and keepin the house! What do u guys do? x

I'm exactly the same, we're not entitlesd to anything which makes me so angry! We were kinda relying on my OH's mum to have noah 3 days a week but she's just got a new job!! Its pointless me working if he's going to go to nursery as I'll be working to pay for childcare which is just pointless!

What we're thinking now is see how MIL's job goes over the next couple of months......we're thinking of asking her to have Noah from 10am-2pm (the hours she works now) and pay her the eqivilent of what she gets now which would probably save us £450 per month and in turn sort of gives her her freedom back as in she's not stuck in a shop all day! During the school holidays my mum will have Noah as my mum works in a school so has all the hols off! Which will also work out good for OH's mum as she has a 6yr old daughter and then doesn't have to worry about who looks after her in the hols......the only problem is she wouldn't get paid during the hols. I think thats a good deal on both parts tho!?

We haven't put this to OH's mum yet tho so its only a maybe! Otherwise I'll probably not be going back to work!

Have you got any family you can call upon?

xx

I'll have to go back to work in June too (when my MA runs out). I'm not sure how it's going to work either as I'm no longer with Ryan's dad (even though he sees him every day which is great). My parents work all week too so I think I'd have to work evenings and weekends if I can. That's really the only way I'm going to manage it without getting childminders, etc which I can't really afford. x

26 weeks Im on MAT leave.

Are you girls not entitled to tax credits? Working & child? Although I believe it goes on last years income so when the new financial year comes in and you get your gross for the year (p60 is it?) try and see if your entitled on the entitledto website - Not useful now but might help & might be entitled as your income is lower for that year where if you apply now its based on the year before isn't it.

Sammi you are claiming child benefit though aren't you? £18 a week but better than nothing. Just had mine confirmed today!

Im not sure what help you'd be entitled to either if you decided not to go back to work - I would go have a word with the job centre or local benefits office. Your lil boy is going to need alot of attention so you may want to do that or a break from it even if it is work is you time hun?! Just a thought x

I think it asks you when you started work, what you were on before etc. Tried the form hun? Ever had a p60? As soon as you have a p60 that info is what you need for tax credits.
