Question

Change of Career

OH wants to change his career as what he does now requires really long hours of work from 7am (ish) to 11pm or even midnight & he finds it very hard to seperate his job from home life but he wants to have more time to focus on family life now we have a baby on the way. We really don't know what he could do though.

He's almost 33, a trained and very experienced Head Chef who is fluent in English and French & well travelled. He's used to earning anything between £25,000 and £35,000 per year depending on where he's working. I doubt that in any new career he'd be happy to settle for much under £22,000.

Has anyone got any suggestions? We really don't even know where to start. We're worried if it requires training though we are going to really struggle for money as he wil be the only earner.

Has he ever thought about taking on his own business as a caterer? it's a risky change, but you could work to suit your lifestyle more.

We were possibly thinking something along those lines but we weren't sure if it was a good idea with a new baby on the way to take the risk just at the momnet. I'd love for him to have his own business and I'm sure he has what it takes.
