How do you keep on top of running ur home???

I'm wondering how people with children/babies keep on top of everything?

As I mentioned in another thread I cnt keep on top of housework & washing at all, I'm used to my house being a tip now!

Before I had Noah everything was organised, tidy, clean and all the washing was done down to the very last sock.

I can't get anything done at all now. Today it really annoyed me. Noah's been a bit sick the last few days and his teeth have really started annoying him. All day he's just been crying. I went to get him a clean vest from his room and realised there wasn't one, they were all dirty! I had to use one thats the next size up! He was sick earlier over my jeans & the floor, I ended up sitting and crying and then I couldn't stop. I felt really silly but I was thinking 'I can't go on like this!' I walk in to the kitchen and then walk out again because of the mess!

I want to be able to do "chores" but how do you with a baby?

Any advice??

As I go along really hun!

If I get chance to put her stuff in the wash before its maybe a full load .. I just do it! If I do dinner its coz I can and I have five mins if it be her napping or OH has her and I wash as I go along or it would be too much although it still seems I have stuff to do most of its behind me because Ive done what I can and as I go along. To hoover and the floors I get that done when shes awake for a feed, he feeds her & I hoove rup around them quickly. Also when Im washing, sterilisiung & making up the bottles its because I have the time between her nap to do it so whist Im in there againI clear up any remaining dishes that are on side and clean the surfaces & floor (quick brush & mop)!

I don't iron RARE - I have a tumble if you don't have one/room for one I started with a mini tumble which I recommend!

Aww, don't put yourself under too much pressure to be a 'perfect housewife'. It's hard work being a Mum! I think the best way to keep on top of it, is to try and do a little as you go along. I just stick Tom in his walker or his bumbo in whatever room I'm in and do a few chores... it helps that he thinks that the hoover is hillarious!

Whenever he is happy for 10 minutes, I'll wash a few bottles or stick a duster round. Try not to worry too much about it, as that'll stress you out and it will feel even more of a chore than it already is. It does get easier.

Definitely agree, it gets easier. I've always put Bethanie in her rocker, bumbo or highchair and then I do however much cleaning I can before she gets whingy. I have a good system with my washing - Choose 1 wash day a week and make it your mission to get what you want done. The night before when little one is sleeping, sort your washing into bags and put them in the wash bin ready (I use my old Jane norman bags) so that the next morning I can just take a bag down when I go to get Bethanie's bottle. Then I grab the next bag and so on, it makes it soo much easier.
It can be hard sometimes, but he is only 3 months old!
