Well DF lost his job and we are so broke we have horses and the board(money we pay to keep them where they are) was due on the first plus we just ran out of food for them I have a job interview on Fri but thats not going to help us for this month I want to sell the horses but that takes time. Ughh our parents wont let us borrow any more money I really believe that we need to get rid of the horses I mean I love them so much but we just cant afford them plus he is going in the navy and we are moving when he gets home from bootcamp plus we are ttc'ing so Im never going to have the proper time for them. They are our only major expense. I just dont know..........
I am sorry hun! Life can be so stressful sometimes.. It is just not fair!! I hope that everything works out for you! It sounds like it would probably be a good idea to sell the horses though to me.. I know that is really hard though.. Best of luck hun and you are in my thoughts!

I think we are going to sell the horses it does suck I love horses and they are my life (I've been riding and competeing for about 15yrs now) but its time to grow up I mean later on down the road I can get some more. It just hard selling them tho lol.
I would see if the owner of the stables would be willing to barter with you until you sell the horses. Maybe they can use them for any classes they teach until you sell them. Hun try putting an add on Craigslist and a Sign up at the stables. Im sure they have a board for that kind of stuff.
I dont really have any advice for you hun I just wanted to send a hug.
My other half and I are also experiancing a rough patch at the moment but we are just trying to keep our head up high at the moment. Im sure help will be out there for you. Its just finding it.
I know how difficult it must be to be having to face parting with your horses also. I sold my horse 2 years ago it was a very difficult decision to make and i miss her terribly.
To me she was more of a companion. I used to go out and ride for miles or even just being at the stables gave me a sense of clamness as if nothing else mattered when I was there. It was kind of my protection bubble and they are great companions. Suppose they say a dog is a mans best friend but i truely found that the saying can go for a horse too.
Hope you find your feet soon. You just both need to be strong and see if you cant compromise with your livery yard about payments for the time being. X
What about seeing if any one at the stables knows someone who is wanting a full time loan of the horses, that way they pay for the food and boardings but they are still your horses. Also that way you can keep an eye on how they are being treated, and then look to seling them if they are interested.
It must be so hard getting rid of something you love which is part of you.
Oh hun, I feel for you so much because I have 6 horses and they're a huge part of my life...they make me so happy.
We own a farm so don't pay board, but is the feed, worming, vaccinations, teeth, feet, unexpected vet bills, competion fees, new things such as breeches, boots, saddles, bridles, bits, rugs, feed bins etc. They really are an ongoing expense. We can't really afford our horses but they get the very best of everything. I'm a riding coach and that income pays for them all. If I was ever in a position that I couldn't afford to feed them or look after them properly then I would sell them, as much as it would break my heart, their health and wellbeing comes first.
I'm selling one of my boys early next year, as much as I don't want to we need to save some money, and his sale $ will really help us.
I know that selling them takes a lot of time, especially when you won't settle on anything but the very best of homes. So maybe you could start by selling some of your tack and gear on ebay to bring in a bit of money until they do sell?
Good luck with it all hun, if you were in Oz they could come stay with me!
