Flat hunting..... grrrrrrrr

We're currently looking for a flat in Norwich so we can move back closer to my family and friends. However people are being soooooo annoying. They're all so over the top with their prices. We don't want to go throough an agent because I have a bad credit history so they probably wouldn't rent to me but they'd still charge me lots of money to find that out and tell me. So we are looking for people privately. The thing is they're charging for a decent 2 bed flat like we have now, what it would cost to rent a 3 bed house through an agent. So we thought maybe we should rent a 1 bed flat for now and move just after the baby is here into something bigger. That way we save money because my o/h isn't working and can't really till we move there. Even so they're asking for a 1 bed flat the same or more than out luxury 2 bed is now and I know thats over priced as the people in the flat opposite pay £50 per month less. I'ts driving me CRAZY!!!!!

I don't suppose anyone knows any ways of getting to rent somewhere through an agent if you have a poor credit history?

Private letting in decent areas is so bloody pricey whole thing takes the piss. Its like buying they make it so difficult it would be cheaper for us to buy yet we know we won't get what we want and it is possible now although the monthly mortgage is affordable Whole deal takes the piss *ill stop rambling*!

Ive always found landlords through the papers etc - We tried to use an agency (although more pricey rent wise really because you have a middle man) and tbh found it so much hassle they messe dus about in short and wasted our money - we found a landlord not through an agency in the end again.

Hows it going now?

Some Estate agencies will accept as long as you have a guarantor which means if your mom works (or anyone else who you know) and has a good credit then her name goes down as to the next in line who is willing to pay rent if you don't! This is also the case if you can't prove your income etc.

i know exactley what your going through ... flat hunting is a nightmare!!

we had 2 do the same .... however we only had 2 weeks to find somewhere to live so it made it even harder

i have bad credit but my OH has good, so it kinda balanced it out i guess and we got accepted by an agent.

give it a try
