No idea how we will manage

My OH has just been informed that the company he DJs for is now getting rid of all DJs

We rely on his DJ income each month now especially with me getting just a measley £400 a month from DWP for Mat Allowence and then how ever much child benefit is

I really dont know how we are going to cope with what the rent, loans, bills council tax etc food shopping. nappies milk etc where does it end

It seems no one wants to help financially. The job centre dont want to know unless you're scum of the earth these days.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Does your OH do anything other than DJ? I guess if not he'll have to find something else...or can he go DJ somewhere else?

You'll manage, it might just be difficult at first. Wish I could be of more help!

If your partner is now not working at all he could claim contribution based jobseekers allowance but only if he was PAYE, this he could claim in his own right and your income is not takien into account.
Failing that he could claim income based jobseekers allowance but your maternity allowance would be taken into account and could wipe out the jobseekers but it would be worth looking into.
I would also contact your local council and apply for council tax and housing benefit based on low income. Hope that helps a bit

he works full time as well as doing the DJing on the side, it was his second job but self employed.

The trouble of it all is. He was left with alot of debt from his previous relationship and its managing to meet re-payments and obviously pay child maintence to his ex partner who I beleive is fiddeling the system any ways as she is now claiming income support.

I think we are going to have to go to Citizens advice Beuro. Hopefully he may be able to get some overtime at Orange. X

Whatever happens try and remain positive. I completely understand how you feel about getting no support from the local councils etc, because from what i used to earn to my Maternity Pay is ridiculous and simply not enough.

My boyfriend earns a good wage but was in debt due to credit cards (and being a typical bloke) before he even met me - so has A LOT of out goings.

Unless you're on drugs, don't work, being abused at home or arent from this country its pretty difficult to get some help!

*sorry... rant over* !

Anyway, you will be fine and will cope, bets of luck xxx

Unfortunately the way the government works is that they look after people who dont give a toss and dont about people who are genuinely struggling.

I dont really know what to tell you but I would have a look at the CAB. Theyre quite helpful.
