I'm Currently Feeling: | MAT leave - Help?! Quote:
you are entitled to Ordinary Maternity Leave (OML) of 26 weeks
and an optional Additional Maternity Leave (AML) of a further 26 weeks.
Do you wish to take both? I think it's strange having to ask now, but there's an extra
paragraph I have to legally put in your letter if you'd like to take the full 52 weeks.
| Got this from my boss - sorry had to put it in here!
Is 26 weeks right? and whats AML? Is the MAT pay the same? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm sure the AML pay goes down to like £119 a week or something. I'm not entirely sure hun. I'd try a government website about it, or try and speak more to your employer.
I was looking at that last night too as I was quite confused.
Obviously yours is more imminent than mine. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | s'ok in another email he says
Statutory Maternity Pay is available for a maximum of 39 weeks of your maternity leave.
For the first 6 weeks of your leave, you will receive 90% of your normal weekly income
(approx £130 per week). For the remaining 33 weeks of your maternity leave, you receive
either 90% of your normal weekly income or £112.75 per week, whichever is lower - in your
case this will be £112.75 per week.
so i think first one was error lol oh well Ive emailed him and said its the 39 weeks I want SMP |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Blimey I feel lucky now!
I work from home and a cut in wages is alot to me so Ive decided to take 26 weeks. End of day I use the PC alot I think my boss would be flexible with me and I'm lucky to have a wage I can earn from home. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I'm sure legally Wobbles he isn't allowed to ask you how long you'll be taking off! I was trying to find you a link but am rushed for time but I recently had my letter from work about my mat leave and it gives me two dates. First one is if I return to work after Ordinary Maternity leave (26wks) and the second date is if I take additional maternity leave (a further 26wks).
If your baby is due after April 1 of this year the government now pay you SMP for 39 wks (used to be 26wks). SMP used to be £104 a wk or something like that but has now gone up to £112
I'd look into your company's policy about returning after mat leave, it used to be that if you return after OML (ordinary mat leave) they HAD to give you the same job back but if you took longer off they just had to give you a job of similar level and pay to your old one. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Notice to go back is odd lol i knew you had to if you want to take more!
Tbh working from home I guess I have it a bit easier so I think I will return at 26 weeks but will reaccess it before then to see if we think I should take more. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My company gave me a letter stating when my OML would finish, and when my AML would finish - so both dates. They said that the law states that they would have to assume that I wouldn't be returning until the later date, and if I was coming back any earlier, I would have to give them 28 days written notice. They also said that they weren't allowed to ask me when I wanted to return and they weren't allowed to contact me about it while I was off! |
