Pre elampsia

I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy and I'm so worried about getting it again. Is it common to get it with the 2 nd pregnancy if you've had it before? I have my fingers crossed for an easier pregnancy this time, hopefully where I won't be in and out of hospital all the time. X

Preeclampsia is a lot more common in first pregnancies. Hopefully you'll avoid getting it his time. Just curious, when were you diagnosed last time?

Depending on the severity first time and any underlying condition they say there is less chance of you developing and if you do it will be when you are further on and less severe. Having said that I have had it twice now began around 30 weeks and delivered at 33 weeks first time around. This time swelling and protein started at 26 weeks and delivered at 30 weeks in dec. HOWEVER........... The consultant now thinks my kidneys were weaker due to a pre-existing condition that last time they said had no effect! The second time classed as 'severe' and they held off 4 days before delivering for baby's sake which is all I could hope for.

You will be closely monitored from about 16 weeks and high risk/consultant led with more scans and bp and protein checks. Like I say my bum kidney had a lot to deal with my situation and I keep in touch with a few members on here who had it and went onto having perfect pregnancies second time around. Best of luck and a long and 'boring' pregnancy xx

Hi. Last time I was diagnosed with PE at 28 weeks and delivered Molly by emergency c section at 29 weeks. This time I have been closely monitored, and put on asprin by my consultant. No signs of PE at all so far.
