5 week emergancy scan,gestration sac?

Yesterday i had a scan in EPAU i thought i was 8 weeks but turns out i was routhly 5 weeks.They done interneal scan and found gestration sca and in top right corner found tint yolk sac.No heartbeat and no fetal pole,they said it was too early and im due back for scan 2/3/10..But my main concern is that the doc said she would be happier if my gestration sas was more rounder,instead it looks like a sausage laying down...Im really worried now,has anyone has this before? what happened?

Hi there. I haven't had personal experience of this hun, but I do know that 5wks is too early to pick up a heartbeat, and the gestational sac is so teeny that it is difficult to determine how healthy it is.

I know it's tough, but try not to worry before you've had a second scan. It really could look better in a couple of weeks. Sonographers never tell you anything unless they are absolutely certain, so don't read too much into what they have said.

I had a scan at 6 weeks sac and yolk and it looked like a grain of rice. Noah is now 4 months old.

I had a emergency scan with my first back in 1999 after a heavy bleed at 5+2 and there was literally just a blob!
Had second scan at exactly 6 weeks after another bleed and saw the heartbeat!
That "blob with a heartbeat" is now nearly 10yo!
So try not to worry it does work out!

I had an emergency scan at five weeks, I thought I was seven and they could only see a yolk sac, nothing else.

They also told me they would not give me any false hope and if they thought there was likely to be a problem, they would prepare me for it xx

Thanks everyone,im just hoping all is ok.My hubby keeps saying all will be ok and keep positive but i feel so sick with worry....Maybe this is why peoples houldnt have scans so early x
