short/incompetent cervix after laser treatment

hi all, i hope someone can help. i had letz loop laser treatment on CIN3 cells on my cervix in july and am now 12 weeks pregnant. i wasnt too worried about it to be honest as i didnt think the treatment could affect pregnancies, but i have an appointmetn at the hospital next week which i think is about this and i wonder if anyone knows what they might do?? i have been researching on the internet (sometimes a bad thing!) that the laser treatment can cause a short cervix and therefore miscarriage in the second tri. i am devastated as i have been praying to be 12 weeks so i can relax a little only to find out that i am not out of the woods at all. i cant stop thinking about it and am so so worried. if anyone has any experiences or advice, i would be so grateful. xxxxxx

Hi, i too have had treatment for CIN3 cells, and have been really worried about the same thing..none of my MW's/consultants have been concerned about it though, although i know others are offered cervical scans to check, i wasn't though. I'm now 33+3 and everything with my cervix has been fine. Hope this reassures you slightly and good luck in your appointment..x

I had a cone biopsy and had just less than third of my cervix removed last december. I waited 3 months, got pregnant right away and am 36+ weeks now. I have had no complications, they just checked my cervix at my 20 week scan and everything looks good.

Positive thoughts your way!

I had loop diathermy 4 years ago and asked at the time whether it would affect my fertility-the consultant just told me to avoid getting pregnant for a few months. The same consultant examined me 3 months ago when I was 20 weeks pregnant with my daughter Erin and told me that I was about to lose my baby due to incompetent cervix. My girl was born asleep on 17th June. I have since been told that the weakness was caused by my diathermy and also further complicated due to me having a bicornuate uterus which is another thing I was told by medics not to worry about!
If I had any idea of the potential problems I had and the risks they posed to my baby I would've done everything I could to try and prevent it.
Please push for more monitoring and force them to take you seriously because losing a baby is heartbreaking and soul destroying and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Kick some ass! I certainly will be if we are lucky enough to conceive again in the future...x

hiya, ive had over 2cm of my cervix removed. first i had laser treatment and then a medium loop diathermy. they have refered me to a consultant and they are monitoring me closely, my cervix has been 26mm since 12 week scan, so hopefully all will be okay. just make sure they dont just dismiss it, as i have had to fight to get extra appointments... dont worry yourself too much about it but make sure you are aware of the signs of early labour and stuff to be on the safe side xxxx
