Incompetent Cervix question:

Just wondering if any of you ladies had any "pain or discomfort" regarding your cervix. For example, did you have sharp pains in your cervix or anything you can remember?? Just curious.
I went to a perinatal center and they checked my cervix at 10 weeks and everything looked good and my cervix was closed and normal length.
Recently I have been feeling sharp twinges of pain in my cervix and I am just curious if anyone with an incompetent cervix felt something similar. I asked my dr. about it at my check up on Monday(heard heartbeat again!) and he said it was normal to have some twinges of pain like that...but I am still curious.

Thanks.

I did feel twinges in my cervix but again was told that was normal - and tbh I don't have anything to compare it to. I went with my gut feeling and made sure I got regular scans (every 2 weeks) even though I had to pay for htem privately. I was lucky I did in my case becasue I ended up having an emergency stitch put in at 20 weeks.

My advice would be keep an eye on it - I was told that you can't get an accurate cervical length scan until you're 14 weeks + because hte endometrical layer gets in the way before then.

thank you for the reply.

I have another appointment with the specialist in a week...so thankful for that.
She said they will be monitoring me often..which is great. I just get nervous about something happening in between appointments.

hi,
yeah i too have had sharp pains in my cervix. its been explained to me that as baby has growth spurts and everything grows with her that i will have pains and aches. i think because we're so tuned into every feeling we have down there due to our worries that we notice more than we ever would in a "normal" pregnancy.
as last post said just keep an eye on it and if for one minute you feel its not right go and get it checked out.
