your midwife will not be able to tell, she will be able to tell if it is opening but nothing else, otherwise you need scans, i have had ultrasounds to check my cervix length and they have checked on a normal ultrasound, as long as you have a full bladder then can check it, here they dont like to do trans-vaginal ones if you already have cervical problems as they dont want to cause any more problems

Thanks, do you know if a gynecological check can make things "bad" downthere?
I might need two of those in a timespan of 6 days, going to one place to get checked for std.s then want my MW to check my cervix how it looks like.
Do you know if that is a bad idea?
And do you think a std doctor (just a general doctor-not a gynecologist) can check if the cervix looks alright?

my doctors have avoided going near my cervix unless it has been necessary. NOt sure that just a general doctor can tell much about your cervix as when mine has been looked at it has always been done by specialists

i have just had an emergency stitch put in due to short cervix, the best way is a internal scan. if you have already been told about it in the past they should take you seriously, when you book in tell th midwife you want to be referred to a obs and gynae consultant clinic they cant refuse, if they do complain and make a fuss they will soon listen x

i too am worried about this and have spoken to a very useless midwife who advised me that when i go for antenatal care my concerns will be addressed and if im still worried i can go under ob/gyn consultancy care for check ups.
its part of te care in the uk though.not sure if you mentioned it or not but are you from the uk???

yes sweety, a top obs and gynae consultant had her hand up there the other day and literally said its very short, we need to intervene now and with that i was whisked away to theatre. now she only could tell by feeling as she has like 30 years in the business, if you are seriously worried then make a nuisance of yourself they will see you to keep you off their back.

I think so too, but apparently they dont. I suppose I just have to keep my fingers crossed that nothing will happen.
I tried to get an another doc to do it which just redirected me back to my gyn...
