I have 3 straighteners - a GHD, a CHI, and an Avanti.. my Avanti was the cheapest one, and I'd definitely recommend it, works well, it's tourmaline with several different heat settings, has 1 inch plates that make styling easier than say, my chi.. heats up fairly quickly and my sister can curl her hair with it.. I am not talented though and I use my curling iron

Oh & if you guys know hair dressers or beauty students.. there are plenty of members-only specialty shops that sell the stuff for literally about half the price it is in stores. Salons and beauty supply stores open to the public also have good sales sometimes, CHIs are $50 off at the one near my work at the moment.. and if you invest more $$ in a straightener, buying a CHI or GHD you can usually get a warranty included. My CHI came with a one year warranty, it broke and I had it replaced free of charge by the beauty supply store- they didn't even make me go through the manufacturer and wait!

I've had a couple of pairs of GHD's that have broken and all I do is send them to GHD & they fix them for me or give me a new pair - once I had to pay £40.00 & the time after that they did it for free!!!

Ring GHD on 08453 301133, they used to have a recorded message telling you where to send them to. You just need to put a covering note in with them & you get them back quickly. If they charge you anything they will write to you first to check that yr happy to pay.

I think they are brilliant and would never use anything else. Having said that though, I've used them for years & don't know if the other ceramic hair straighteners that are now on the market are any good. I know that all the hairdressers in my area use GHD's tho
