Child Care and working?

Help,
We are having trouble financially at the moment, and i am thinking of going back to work to try and help our situation, but i dont know what happens when you do.

Obvioulsy i would need to put Ewan in to a nursery which is going to cost,
Do you get any help towards cost from tax credits, as if i go back to work and get no help then i will be in a no better situation. basically working to keep ewan in nursery?? I'd only probably be working part time, (3 full days if i can get that)

Bloody credit cards should be banned!

Help

if u work over 16 hours u get 70% of the child care paid for. our child minder is only £3 an hour, so from my wage i still get good money after paying that

The more u earn the less u get. U can phone them up and ask for a calculation, but its not that accurate tbh.

Good luck whatever u decide x

Have you thought about getting a job in the evening, that way your OH can look after Ewan and you dont need to worry about childcare

Yeah have thought about it but it would n't work as i never know what time hubby is getting home and it would mean we would never see each other. he goes out a t 6am and often not home till 8pm.
I could do nights but that still wouldnt work..
He would like to move to scotland as we would actually make a profit selling our house and clear mosst of our depts.

Hypernorm

I have just been explaining in another thread about Council Subsidised funding for approved childcare providers in some areas.
Check the Website for you local Council. Some councils will subsidise local approved childcare facilities. There is a nursery in my area that runs Monday to Friday 9:30am - 12:30pm and costs just £5.50 per week! - You have to pack your childs lunch, but they provide toast at 10am. You can take your child any of the 5 days they choose and you don't have to stay with them. Your child doesn't have to be potty trained either - So maybe you could work a few hours each day without childcare costs breaking the bank.

Hopefully there is something similar in your area!
