Big, fat, hairy...

MICE! Except they're not big and fat and ha....well, they are hairy, but they're soooo cute. They have little mousey paws and a little mousey tail and little mousey whiskers.. They're also eating our stuff, ripped up my advent calender and took THE BEST SWEET IN THERE!!!!! Clever little buggers.

They also ripped up a foil wrapper behind the settee.

Anyway, so my mum sent me to get poison, and it just didn't feel right buying it. So I got some humane traps, the sort that tip and the door closes.. Two of them.

First night; nothing. Second night; one of my traps DISAPPEARS??!! WTF? Sooo, they're not only clever, they're fucking organised! No ONE mouse could carry a whole trap away with them!!!

My mum bought some poison and left it down near one of my traps.. So this morning, I get up, sit down to the computer and hear "tap tap tap/scrabble" from the cupboard under the stairs.. We heard it the other night, but the trap was empty.. So I tiptoed through to the dining room... "tap tap tap" I wasn't sure if they were chewing something at first, or eating from the poison tray. Then I thought it sounded a bit too rhythmic, like something tapping forward and backward. I opened the door and it happened again, just a little bit...I thought if they were eating or something, they'd have run by now. There's a mouse in the trap.

I got it out and looked in and could see it's little pink paws, just sat there. (They were attached to the mouse btw)..

I went upstairs, talking to it like I would my rats, and told my BF as he has the car and needed to take it away. Looked in there and could see it's little fluffy (mini version of my rat's) tail, pressed up against the opening under the door.

Now, is it weird, I feel really bad now. We're taking it away from it's mummy, it was scared because it was trapped, it may have already consumed poison and it may die in the wild anyway, because it's on it's own...I hope not.

I'm actually more inclined to take the traps up and just leave them to eat the poison, then at least I don't know!!! (Apart from if they go and die in the cupboard again.....) But then again, I could just keep my fingers crossed that I'll catch them before they eat the poison and effectively save them from a horrific 4-8 day death...

Poor, annoying little creaz.

I know! I feel really bad, they didn't touch it the night before last, so I was hoping they just wouldn't... This morning there are little mousey paw prints and you can see they've had some from the edge...

I wish she'd just given me a chance with my traps..well, trap now. =/

Couple of years ago I came home from college and opened our cutlery drawer....there was a mouse sat in it... I pushed the drawer half up and took a step back, shocked, but I'm not scared of them. You just don't expect to see a whiskery little brown thing sat in your cutlery drawer! I opened the drawer again and it had gone....

My BF said that the snap traps are awful, they do just get away with the food, have to say we've had better luck with the humane ones, we have 'big cheese' brand ones.

They are really clever! It's weird! They actually CLIMBED up my advent calender to get to this chocolate!!! Why not just go for the ones at the bottom?? They clearly don't like Mars and Bountys!

We can't get into our attic, it's kinda creepy, there are bats up there and we're not allowed to disturb them..
