Feel slightly silly, but....

Can you guys explain some stuff for me please? The words for things are so different than what we use over here, and I've been trying to make heads or tails of things but not having alot of luck. Some of the stuff I have, but these are the ones I'm stuck on:

Shattered - Is this a bad thing? I've seen people refer to it when they're tired, upset or angry or happy, so not exactly sure of the context.

Gutted - I'm *thinking* that this means someone is upset as well, but then if so what is 'shattered' for?

As for weight, exactly how much is a "stone"? I'm used to everything being in pounds (as in, 120lbs) but I see people saying 11-stone, or 'gained a stone' and I have no idea how much a 'stone' weighs!

Sorry about this... it's been a tad bit confusing for me!

I'm not sure about others, but when I use shattered, I usually mean tired and use gutted in the same way as I'd use dissapointed or sad!

There are 14 pounds in a stone

Hope this helps

hehe ur cute! I am thankful you posted this.

If you google, you can always input "1 stone converted to pounds" and it will come up. It always does for me.

Shattered to me means to be completely broken through tiredness and exhaustion.

Gutted is let down and upset.

A stone is 14lbs

I have used the word shattered, but it usually means "upset, devestated". Gutted would also mean the same. I didn't know what a "stone" was either. My MIL is British, so I hear alot of lingo from her.
