What smells/food remind you of childhood??

My mum came back from shopping today with these toffee sweets that my grandparents used to buy every christmas... i have relished the taste of them because its like being 8 years old again stood in my grandparents living room by a roaring fire watching Tom & Jerry cartoon with the christmas tree twinkling..

think im going to have to buy another box for xmas...

whats your childhood food/smell ladies??

Meatloaf LOL! Also, freshly baked bread. My dad would stay up all night baking bread...and we would smell it while sleeping.

Arabic and Thai food from when I lived in the middle and far east. We used to go to a restaurant called Fatty's when I was a child. You'd sit outside in really close, balmy far eastern weather with the adults drinking cold Tiger beer and a stout woman would come out and keep topping up your bowls for as long as you sat there, insisting you call her 'Mama' and try some chicken feet.

Autumn - The crisp, cool smell of fall. Changing leaves, impending winter, the earthy smell of falling leaves, damp ground, and plants going to sleep for the winter. It reminds me of Halloween and the costumes my mom handmade for me and my lil' sis every year.

My family's christmas cookie recipe! They smell divine when baking, and the entertainment of decorating them and then eating them with hot chocolate on a wintery night is too much to resist! I also agree with the smells of autumn, we don't really get that in Florida I miss it.
