I was just noseying round the site and came upon this, so thought I would just let you know my parents are also foster carers and have been for the last 14 years. They have had numerous long termers - 2 of my sisters are fostered and refused to go home - so changed their names by deed poll, they are 23 and 24 now. At the moment they do have the child from hell - he is 8 and constantly kicks, headbutts, punches and swears at my mum, even trying to stand on the car seats and punch her when she's driving!!!! Needless to say he doesnt do this in front of my dad.
When he came to my mum's she was told by the social worker that this child had no problems
, so after all that rant, this is just to say to people thinking of fostering - its rewarding but extremely hard work.
