So today I was in tesco and I needed to get myself some deodarant (as ya do). I take a browse on the shelves and I see NOTHING that is below £1.50.
Now call me tight but don't you think £1.50+ is a tad expensive for a tiny bottle of roll on? (sorry to winge) I normally buy soft and gentle but when I saw the price of that also, I opted for Wilko's. £2.75 for a can of soft and gentle- does anyone else think it's rather ridiculous the way that this country is over pricing everything? Maybe it's just me, maybe im just being tight but the other day my family and I went on a picnick, it cost nearly £5.00 for some ham from a meat counter.
I think we must be one of the most expensive countries in the world. I remember when I lived in America, the food etc: and most things were no way near as expensive as it is over here.
And dont start me off about the goverment being responsible, you really shouldnt get me on that topic because I will be expressing my feelings about it all night.

I think it is very expensive here in California. We pay $3.40 for one gal. of gas. Now my truck holds 24 gal. Do the math. I only get 13 miles to the gal. in my truck. I go to the grocery store to buy food and I sware 1 bag of food cost me over $50. I think that it is just expenseive to live these days. So I try to cut back where I can. But that is easer said than done.

i agreee everything is very expensive, i find all the meats expensive for little steaks etc. i try and get all the cheap stuff if possible.

Really? Well I lived in Tulsa, OK for a while and I never found it to be expensive at all.
The cost of living over there was incredibly cheap. You could buy a dinner plate of fancy food for approx $11, and that would give you two portions which would be the equivelent of 2 lunch portions costing $6 each.
My favrotie place to eat would have to be Olive Garden. Presumably you being American, you have been there? OMG, I'm telling ya, no other restaurant in the US can compare. Love it, Love it, Love it! x x

I like the olive garden but the last time I was there it cost me over $40 for the two of us. And that was One Beer for him and I had a glass of the house wine.....But TBH, California is so expensive to live in. I could move to another state and it would be cheeper for us....

All depends where you shop hun and what your shopping for, fresh produce from supermarkets is horrendous, but filthy cheap from Greengrocers and butchers etc, and you get a lot more and better quality. This is cause its locally grown and seasonal, where as stuff in supermarkets is normally shipped from the other side of the world and our paying for the packaging.

As for cosmetics anf toiltries, I dont buy them in shops anyway I get natural stuff from fair trade companies online, so I dont mind what I pay for it cause its decent chemical free 100% naural lovely stuff and lasts ages.

The fact is you always pay for convenience, shop around and get better quality stuff at a lower cost.

You only had a glass of wine and one beer, and it cost you $40? Whats that deal with that?
When I went there with my family, we had one kids meal which would cost around $5 and two lunch portion meals $6 each, and a dessert after.
Plus drinks, and even then it didnt add up to $40.
Wow, that is expensive. - Do you have a diner called Furrs in Cali? it's one of those "eat all you want for $5" kinda places. You can litterally go in at 12pm and leave at 5pm, eat all the food that they serve and only pay between $5/$7. It's a good place to go if you're hungry.
I've been to NYC, I found it to be expensive there- alot of people are like " I would love to go to new york, simply to say that I have been there", but honestly, when I was there, I didnt see what the big deal was. It's too much like London and every street litterally looks the same.

Sorry, Im rambling on. I havent been back to Tulsa for a while and Im beginning to miss America which explains my rambling x x

Its not cheep to live in California. You cant even buy lunch for under $5 at a Fast Food Chain anymore....So we usually just pack a lunch...Cup of Soup or left overs....That sort of stuff. We usually dont go out for dinner. Just take out. Saves us on Drinks and things like that. We are home bodies....

I agree with Cat, I now buy my meat from a factory outlet, they sell to the butchers, so its even cheaper than the butcher becuase Im buying it direct, a tener will get you a bag full of meat, its great. But the rest of my food I buy from supermarkets for convienience!
