Paint question..

Going to paint my mums living room, at the moment she has a feature wall which is quite a bright red - at the time we wanted a nice warm red, but it was one of those *open tin* "oh my god" type moments.. so we just stuck with it anyway, looked alright for a while.

Now mum has a cream sofa, so im going for a nice creamy gold colour. My question is, will I need to paint the red wall white first of all, so that the red doesn't show through? or do you think it should cover nicely.

The red is like this:

This is the gold (number 1): http://www.dulux.co.uk/servlet/Colou...=gentle_gold_1

Thanks for any help!

I would say do one coat of white over the top to take the harshness out of the red, then you'll prob need 2 coats of the gold on top.

I had that colour red in my bedroom at me old house. and it took OH 3 thick coats of white to get completely rid of it....

It took about 4 coats of matt white emulsion to cover up chocolate brown in my bedroom!
