Does any one else believe in the magpie theory?

My last pregnancy I had 2 vist me every day without fail.then towards the end I always saw 3 so I thought oo its a girl and yep Madison was born a girl!Again this pregnancy I have seen 2 every day out the front of my house and recently I have seen 3 not every day but always 2 and every now and then 3.We are convinced this one boy but now I'm not so sure as when I first fell preggers I had an inkling it was a girl, but my dillemma is we cant agree on a girls name and we only got 10 and a bit weeks left!

Does any one else belive in old folk stories like the magpie theory? :

I'm not to sure about that theory but I'm a bit OCD when it comes to magpies I was told years ago that saying 'good morning Mr Magpie, Hows your wife' would bring you luck only if you saw one on its own tho & now I cant stop saying bcus If I dont I think I'll get bad luck

ha ha i have to salute them and i look a right prat at times as i do it no matter where i am.but im like you have to do just to be on the safe side!

thats so funny I salute them when I say it, I even stop talking to DH or whoever is with me to say it. they used to ask what I was doing but they are used to my madcap ways now x

I haven't believed in it for a long time now because I was actually told that the old 1 for sorrow 2 for joy is down to the fact that Magpies mate for life so if you see one it is usually down to the fact that something has happened to it's mate. Don't know about the rest of the rhyme but it could be that it is just that, a rhyme

I salute the alone ones too, i look like a right dick walking down the street, i kind of pretend im scratching my forehead, but really im saluting a magpie
I always saw 3 with my first and 2 with my 2nd and 3rd and my babies went girl boy boy.
Not seen many this time, but the hubby keeps seeing 3 (he never used to believe in it, but i kept banging on about it, lol)

EDIT: another thing, what do you think it means when you see about 20 in a field? i did once and wondered ever since.

you got me wetting myself at ur last comment!but yep i kind of salute em then mess with my hair!your hubby is like my OH didnt believe in it but does now think he does it to shut me up.OOO if we going in for questions what happens when you see 2 then down the road another 2 or 1 say?

you have ruined all my fun! I cant look at Mr magpie again now.He became my friend not a bird!!!!

Oh well just have to wait another 10 weeks to see whos right ha ha ha
