I'm Currently Feeling: | Suz...a question! Ok, this dog is costing us now.
She went in because of hives and swollen eye over a week ago. We had to take her back again on Saturday.
Now I see she's got it again. We cannot take this dog in every week...it's costly.
You said yours get hives too? How frequently? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi, i know your directing this at Suz, but i have some info that you might find useful.
A friend of my mums works in a vets and she informed my mum (who has a very old ill dog) that all the drugs they use in the vets are the out of date drugs from the chemist that they get cheap.
She informed my mum of this as her dog was in pain and they thought she was dieing(this is 3 years ago). So my mum and dad started giving the dog calpol, and the dog is still going to this day.
But you dont have to try that, just something i found intersting when i found out. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Try giving him an over-the-counter antihistamine. I had the vet recommend it to me for my dog when he starts itching, get rashes, etc. Mine decided last summer that he wanted to start lounging and rolling around on fire ant hills. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Oh yeah - Do you have a farm supply store around you that sells shots for animals? A shot of cortizone might help and work more quickly than Bendryl will. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Its probably something in the grass that is causing this. Like someone said, try some benidril... might help. I just let mine go. It doesnt seem to bother the dog that gets them. What did the vet do for you the last time you where in? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well, the first time she got an antihistamine shot and was sent home with a few pills. Cost us $78.
This past Saturday they gave her a shot. This time cost us $178 as it was after hours. UGH!
Spoke to OH after I posted this and he was told by the last vet to give her benadryl, which we do have. So will do that from now on.
Thanks ladies for your tips! |
