I don't know where Staples think they get off saying "that was easy". I've never had an easy experience there.
I spent close to an hour today arguing with an employee there. I bought a Toshiba last summer for almost 1500 dollars, and when I bought it I was told that it wouldn't have to get sent away for repairs if anything happened because they could deal with it right on location (which was great because I spent 2 years losing my comp every few months for 4-6 weeks because it was crap and needed so many repairs).
On Saturday night, my power cord just completely stopped working. So its still under warranty, I went up to get it seen to. First of all, the guy had NO idea what he was doing. Literally. I was on the phone waiting with their warranty people for 15 minutes because I needed to get a claim number. After 15 minutes of listening to crappy telephone music, we finally figure out that its still under manufacturer's warranty so I didn't need to have wasted that time anyway because they couldn't do anything for me. That was fine.
So then he puts it all through the system, only to find out that they need to take my computer in with the adapter. I figured that was okay and that it should only be a few days because it was on site. Turns out, no - it wasn't on site, it had to be sent away. They couldn't just order a new adapter, they needed to send the whole computer away as well. Asked how long that would be and I get "oh anywhere from a week and 1/2 to 3 weeks".
I'm personally not willing to part with my computer for that long because I'm doing online courses. So I ask them if I could just scrap the warranty and just pay for a new power cord. "No we can't do that, because you ARE under warranty". The guy asked the manager and they said 'no you just can't do that, Toshiba won't sell it like that".
So I finally decide to take my computer back and alternate using my sisters charger for the next week 1/2 till my courses are over. I called Toshiba myself when I got home and asked them if I could get the power cord...what do I hear on the other line!? "Oh yes mam, we do have the power cord for that model notebook. It can be there tomorrow".
So now that that hour of my life was wasted...
