I'm Currently Feeling: | Need some tips and tricks for cats with fleas..Thanks! Alright so I have 4 cats as some of you already know. I have no idea where they came from as my cats are all indoors but since we moved into the apartment (where we have all carpet pretty much) we have the little suckers. We treated them with a flea medication from Walmart on July 30th and it didnt seem to really be doing much. Shawn's mom suggested getting a flea powder and putting it on the cats also along with sprinkling it on the floor and then vacuuming it up. We also did this. Seemed to help a bit...not a lot just a bit because now there are SOOOOO many babies! Im getting EXTREMELY annoyed because the suckers are biting us and really driving me loopy. I want to get the revolution stuff from the vets but I have to wait a month before treating the cats again with that kind of stuff (as far as I know). I also thought about flea baths but im not sure if I can do that after already treating them?? We vacuum everyday also. I am also taking care of a 1yr old girl in my home during the day and they are biting her a bit too. Not as bad as us it seems but I just feel so awful for her as it just has gotten worse in the last 2 wks I didnt have her (while she was on vacation with her grandparents). I want to get some of your opinions before calling the vet because I know they will just try to con me into bringing them in and we just dont have the money for it right now or I would.
So my question is: Do you know of any home solutions to help with fleas or have any tips and tricks? I really need help so any advice would be appreciated!!
Thanks muchly! xo |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have a house full of animals, however Im lucky and have hard wood floors. But, when we get flees, we do the flee bath. I get soap from Petco. I even through the cats in the bath... They hate it, but I find it more affective then the drops. Then I would go to a Homedepot or hardware store and look for a pest control spray. Spray around the house, vacume, and that should help. Wait at least 30 minutes after spraying to let your cats back in the room. Hope that works.... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Dont bother with Revolution, get Frontline Plus instead. Frontline Plus is the only effective and fast way to get rid of fleas as it breaks the life cycle of the flea. You can apply a dose now and repeat in two weeks and then on a monthly basis. And wash EVERYTHING in hot water, vacuum EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE THAT THE KITTIES LAY ON everyday and throw out the bag daily!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | The above all sounds great. A good way to prevent fleas is to add very small amounts of super finely diced garlic to your pet's food. In the case of cats I'd mix it with something they really like and that smells strong on it's own, like tuna or salmon.
We use frontline should the animals get them. It happens rarely in SF though, I think they hate the fog. | | | | Status: Offline
