The "No need to read" sucked me in!

You're perfectly justified in your rant and in your opinions...It really makes me angry when people look down on young mothers and just assume they're no good. People need to learn not to stereotype. I don't have any children myself but I have a friend who does and she is an amazing mother whilst out with her i've clocked people giving disapproving looks but in all honesty it just makes me want to slap them! They don't see how well she cares for her. I don't see how age affects parenting skills. In the past people chose to have children young, yet nowadays people disapprove. In my opinion the problem is with societies attitudes and interpretation and not young mums at all.

Sorry, this got quite long. It's something that gets to me as well xx

aww kay i sympathise completely! I'm 21 in a few weeks and people always look at me as if im a child! My OH is 31 and so if i'm with him its fine and doesn't happen but if i'm out on my own people stare as if im some pramface mum who lives off benefits and sponges off other people who pay taxes whereas infact we dont and we privately rent, own a car etc just like you. Oh has an 8yr old son and if i take Bella and his son out i get it even worse! One lady even said to me "oh my, you started early!" Errr...hello i'd have been bloody 12 when i had him!! Do i really look like that kind of girl?!?

Keep your chin up and just remember that you are a great mum and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says because you have two beautiful kids and thats all that matters

Go you! You have a very valid point.

I get these 'looks' when out too and i'm 26 next month (tho I do look younger) and I feel the same as you, my partner works, we are still together, we private rent and yes we do have a car. And we manage just fine without benefits. At the end of the day tho it doesn't really matter what they think after all they are complete strangers I guess.
